TN Visa Approval for Product Designer
BACKGROUND:
The TN visa applicant was offered a job as a Product Designer.

The Product Designer position was responsible for designing the user experience and user interface elements for the company’s digital product.
I first advised on the most applicable TN visa occupational category for the position - in this case, the Industrial Designer TN visa category.
As with any position with a job title that does not exactly match the TN visa occupational category, it was important to explain and document how the position fell within the Industrial Designer TN visa classification.
I then helped the applicant draft an employer TN Support Letter that clearly established how the position qualified for TN visa status under the Industrial Designer classification.
I also recommended evidence to have on hand to establish how the Product Designer position fell under the occupational category for Industrial Designer based on U.S. Department of Labor publications and other career sources.
EDUCATION:
The TN visa applicant possessed a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
As with any case where the applicant does not possess a degree in the specific TN visa occupational category, it was critical to explain the relevancy of the applicant’s degree to the Industrial Designer profession.
I helped the applicant draft an employer TN Support Letter that explained how the applicant’s Mechanical Engineering degree was relevant to the Industrial Designer classification, e.g. by highlighting relevant coursework
I also recommended evidence to have on hand to establish how the applicant’s Engineering degree was appropriate for an Industrial Designer based on U.S. Department of Labor publications and other career sources.
