TN Visa Approval – Lead Product Engineer
BACKGROUND:
The applicant, a citizen of Canada, was offered a job as a Lead Product Engineer for a company that was expanding its business into the development of custom window coverings.
TN CATEGORY:
JOB TITLE / DUTIES:
The position offered had several unique aspects as it involved the development of the procedures for the company’s new manufacturing space, the set-up of new electrical equipment, and then the design of the actual product.
To establish that the job offer fell within the TN category for Engineers, in my cover letter to USCBP I explained and evidenced how the position was consistent with both the Industrial Engineering and Electrical Engineering professions.
I also included further evidence showing that all 3 aspects of the position were consistent with the Engineering profession.
EDUCATION:
The applicant possessed a degree in Electrical Engineering, and had experience in the field.
To solidify the applicant’s qualifications for the position, as part of my cover letter to USCBP, I included excerpts of the Occupational Outlook Handbook entry for Industrial Engineers, which stated that some of these workers possessed Electrical Engineering degrees.
We also included an experience letter evidencing the applicant’s prior experience performing job duties similar to the position offered.
FILING PROCESS:
TN visa status application filed at the Buffalo, NY Peace Bridge port-of-entry.
PROCESSING TIME:
Approved same day as filed.

3 years
